Derek Burkins is a Vermont-based singer-songwriter known for his fluid guitar and banjo work and authentic, emotive storytelling about love, family, and home. A winner of the 2012 Vermont SolarFest Songwriting Competition and a finalist in the Advance Music Singer/Songwriter Competition, he crafted many of his songs during February Album Writing Month (FAWM). His debut album, Ten Years and 29 Days (2013), reflects a decade of songwriting and was recorded with contributions from Katie Trautz and Jim Gilmour. With nearly 40 years of guitar experience, along with banjo, mandolin, and a background in trumpet, Derek continues to captivate audiences with heartfelt performances and award-winning songwriting.
